The Lake House expansion releases October 22nd
The cat’s out of the bag – or indeed, the writer is out of the lake – the second and final expansion for Alan Wake 2, The Lake House, will release on October 22nd. Not only does this expansion further establish the Remedy Connected Universe and (we hope!) offer a real treat to all you Control fans out there, but it also deepens the story – and the horror – of Alan Wake 2. As FBC agent Estevez, armed with a new weapon against a new enemy, players will enter the Lake House, a Federal Bureau of Control-run research facility where (survival) horror awaits.
The Lake House is an entirely new location which our teams have crafted specifically for this expansion. While those of keen eyesight may have noticed FBC warning signs posted up around Cauldron Lake in Alan Wake 2 – and a chain link fence preventing entrance to an interesting looking area – this is the first time you will be able to enter the facility. While the events of The Lake House take place towards the beginning of the game, you can access the expansion from the main menu at any time, or during the mission “Scratch” by asking Estevez about the Lake House. We hope this expansion will be a delight to play for all you theory-crafters out there.
You can get hints from our trailer above – repeated watching is recommended if you want to catch all the little details we’ve included in there. For example, there’s ████████, a gruesome new type of enemy with which Agent Estevez will come head to paint-dripping toe.
Players will also get a chance to wield a brand new weapon that can be found in the Lake House. We would love to say more, but it’s ████████.
You will have met Kiran Estevez, the dedicated FBC field agent, during the events of Alan Wake 2, but in The Lake House expansion you get the chance to play as her. Making Estevez a playable character gave us the perfect opportunity to view the strange phenomena of Cauldron Lake through the lens of the Federal Bureau of Control – we hope you enjoy the result, as well as further glimpses this offers into the Remedy Connected Universe.
Be careful on your way, though. The Lake House is a return to survival horror. There are multiple levels of the facility to explore, and each brings something different and frightening to experience. Alan Wake wrote that monsters wear many faces. Expect to experience this in The Lake House, but know that you can never be truly prepared.
A harrowing mystery to uncover. A disturbing new enemy to encounter. A chilling underground facility to explore. Haunting new tracks by Petri Alanko and Poe. All together, they form a picture – or a painting – that can only be experienced in The Lake House. See you there on October 22nd.
The Lake House will be available to all owners of the Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2, as well as everyone who upgrades from the Standard to the Deluxe Edition. We’re also glad to reveal that the Deluxe Edition will get another new outfit for Alan Wake. All who upgrade to the Deluxe Edition – or already own it – will get access to Alan Wake’s classic outfit, that you can equip on Alan whenever you like and experience Alan Wake 2 with all the swag of Alan Wake 1. Elbow patches, hoodie, and excessive layering included.
Thank you to our community, as always, for being our champions of light.
